AI Job Interviewsā¦
Weāre back with another episode of āReal Life Black Mirrorā. AI dystopian future is becoming a realityā¦
Apriora just announced that they raised $2.8M to continue building an AI interviewer named Alex that will be able to conduct live video and phone interviews.
Pretty soon, hiring managers and recruiters will be out of a job. The irony!!
Ok maybe notā¦But still, this is CRAZYā¦
Alex will be able to schedule and conduct interviews 24/7 via phone call or live video.
(Things get weird when you start giving AI human names)
It will be able to analyze and grade every type of interview including coding.
The company and candidate will each get instant feedback with a grade on different hard and soft skills plus an overall score out of 100.
The software claims to seamlessly integrate with any applicant tracking system so companies wonāt need to make any changes to their workflow.
(Aside from the fact that theyād be potentially hiring candidates without ever talking to them)
Jokes aside, the new software COULD have some major upsides for both companies and job seekers.
Companies could obviously save time and money by not needing to employ anyone to conduct interviews. And candidates will most likely experience less friction in the hiring process.
It still seems weird, though. Imagine your future job being on the lineā¦and AI has a major influence on the decision as to whether or not you get hiredā¦

SCANDAL
This Employee Stole MILLIONS
āIf at first you donāt succeed, try, try again.ā -Barbara Furlow-Smiles, former diversity program member at Facebook and Nike.
Maybe it wasnāt her that said thatā¦ But she certainly embodied the spirit! The former DEI executive at Facebook allegedly used her position to steal millions from the company by using fraudulent vendors, fake invoices, and cash kickbacks.
So they fired her.
But that didnāt detour Ms. Furlow-Smiles! Even after the Facebook scandal, she was able to land a job as a DEI leader at Nike.
(Talk about a background check gone wrong)
How is it that some job seekers canāt even get an interview despite having all the qualifications, but this lady can steal $5 mil and land another job right away?! Smh.
At Nike, she picked up right where she left off using the same tactics to steal $120k before finally being fired and arrested after an FBI investigation.
In total, she stole over $5.1M.
She pleaded guilty to wire fraud and was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in jail.
š Employee of the year!
